Fish burger is amazing...it should be called a fish sandwich. All the sides are also amazing. Coleslaw, macaroni salad... all of it. It's the best fish and chips shop around. Excellent service too. Everyone is really friendly even though they are always super busy. More restaurants should strive for this kind of consistency in great service and food.

My husband and I have been going to JMonks since the original owners had the restaurant. Fish was always generous and well made, especially that amazing coleslaw. After they sold their business, we were reluctant to go back. The new owner (I think his name is Freddie?) has made great efforts to maintain the quality and consistency of JMonks. This past Friday, the fish was fantastic....my husband was thoroughly pleased...and he is NOT easy to please! The fish portions were huge and the batter was perfect!!! Most of all Freddie is very accomodating of his customers...like me begging for extra chips, which were perfect by the way!!! Freddie please don't change anything...you have secured the ultimate classic.

J Monks has been my go to spot for years. Through multiple owners - it's remained consistent for their level of service and quality. Even after a few months hiatus - I walked in and the owner greeted me as if I was an old friend; and remembered my usual order. Out of every spot in Niagara - I'll never stop coming here. Their poutine is the best in the region.

Amazing food. Great price. Would highly recommend! We ate late Christmas Eve and they served their palenta special. WOW!

Finally found our new favourite fish and chip place. The fish is delicious, fresh and big portions. The French fries are crispy and delicious too!! Customer service is great while I was greeted by the owner himself. We recommend this place 100% and will definitely be returning customers!!!! Delicious!!!

Took my mother for fish & chips & we were greeted warmly by a very handsome man, who cooked us some really fantastic fish & chips. We were both very happy, fantastic place, would definitely visit again. If I had any comments to make at all, was that the tartar sauce they gave us, was super thin & watery. The taste was ok, but we both thought it was entirely too thin. This could be personal preference, but we've always had nice & thick tartar sauce. This was closer to water than it was to mayo consistency.

A favourite of ours. Food is delicious. Very reasonable and really friendly owner. Love the batter on the Fish!

Despite the restaurant being incredibly busy with takeout orders that seem to last an eternity, we ordered two fish dinners, actually Pollock instead of haddock because the price was a little lower, and we heard that the Pollock was quite tasty. Well, it was worth the wait. The breading which was a batter breading, was nice and thin and the fish done to perfection in the inside with the flesh being a light white colour, and absolutely no fishy taste whatsoever. The portion of fries were a tad soggy, but that was due to the fact that we had a carryout and had to drive almost 10 minutes. The flavour was also quite good, so no complaints here! As a side, we ordered fried clams, which were every bit as good as what I had when I lived on the East Coast in Nova Scotia. In fact the Pollock was just as fresh and good as I had in Nova scotia. I definitely will return here. Also, they have Barry's Irish tea bags and some other English fare such as Devon Cream. In addition, dishes such as steak and kidney pie, etc for us anglophiles are a welcome addition to the already-generous menu.
